My name is Ryan Bullard. I am from Odessa, TX. and on December 29th-Jan.2nd, my two sons and I were able to travel down to Rockport and go hunting/fishing with Lanny Phillips, who happens to be my Dad, (Tigernet Fish Guide Service). It was the second duck hunt for my oldest son, (Dawson) who is 10, and the first hunt for my youngest son (Parker) who was 6 at the time. We were able to go hunting three different times and went fishing for a couple of hours each day after the morning hunts.

I’ve been hunting and fishing for as long as I can remember and I have to say, I have not had a better hunting experience than I did this last trip. Having the opportunity to do something I love, “Duck Hunting!” Plus, being able to do that with my boys was a dream come true, because they too are now growing to love hunting and fishing.
We limited on redhead’s every time out, even on the 1st when there were no other hunters shooting.

The weather was overcast, drizzling, and even raining at times. The temperature was between 38-42 degrees every day but even with those elements, we saw hundreds of ducks rafting in the distance and flying everywhere. On our last hunt, the evening of the 1st, Parker and I where hunting in a blind in the mangroves. All of a sudden 6 ducks where paddling into our blind and decoys. It was so cool, because we had been so focused on the sky for ducks to be flying by, only to look down and see them swimming towards us!

It was getting late in the day and I knew the airboat was about to come pick us up....and sure enough, it fired-up. We were anticipating these ducks to take off, and they did. I shot twice and two went down, so I thought. I high-fived Parker, and he said “That was awesome, you shot 3 ducks”, and low and behold there were 3 down, two of which were redheads. It was a really cool feeling being with my boy when something like that happened. With all that being said, I still can’t express how much I enjoyed being out there with my boys and my Dad. A memory and experience that can never be replaced…priceless!!
